SKETCHBOOK BREWING OPENS 2nd LOCATION: 
SERVING CUSTOMERS @ SKOKIE’S FIRST BREWERY STARTING 7/31/20

SKOKIE, IL (JULY 22, 2020) – Craft beer lovers living in and around Skokie rejoice! Sketchbook Brewing Co.—founded six years ago in Evanston—will open its new Skokie taproom to the public on noon on Friday, July 31, 2020. The 4901 W. Main St. space in Skokie also houses Sketchbook’s second brewing system (triple the size of their original Evanston brewery; customers can view the fermenters through glass windows. Located just north of Downtown Skokie, the new facility sits adjacent to the Skokie Bike Trail and just blocks away from the Oakton Yellow Line CTA Station. 

Special features of Sketchbook Skokie include: 

·       Spacious 4000 square-foot interior with 25 -foot high ceilings

·       Paved Patio space enhanced by trees lit with solar lights

·       Up to 20 beers on tap—all brewed on premises—plus Kombucha and Cider

·       Beer To Go two ways—cans and growlers (glass jugs filled with fresh draft beer)

·       Tables responsibly spaced to promote safe social distancing

·       Designer Bar with a 60-foot curved exterior and geometric ‘cloud’ overhead (thanks to Could Be Architecture)

·       Reservation system to encourage social distancing.  Walk-ins also welcome.

“Expanding during a pandemic wasn’t our plan, of course,” says Sketchbook’s Cesar Marron, managing partner along with Shawn Decker. “But we had outgrown our Evanston brewery, and Skokie welcomed us with open arms. Our success in navigating the COVID-19 crisis has been made possible by securing disaster funding and SBA loans, the generosity of the Village of Skokie, our remarkable landlord Mark McCracken—and the fabulous loyalty of our customer base, including more than 450 members.”

Visitors will want to know:    Hours: T-Th, 3 pm to 10 pm, Fri-Sun noon to 10. 

·       Plentiful parking is available in the lot directly west of the building.

·       Family-friendly: Bring your children; just make sure they can adhere to social distancing.

·       BYOFood: Light snacks available on premises, and customers can bring in meals.  

·       Conversation-forward: No TV’s, no screens. Ever. 

·       Music and Events will be scheduled, when COVID restrictions allow. 

·       COVID-19 Phase 4 Ground-Rules: Sketchbook is adhering closely to all health regulations; masks are required by all customers upon entering the premises and when moving through common spaces.  Servers will wear masks at all times.  Tables and restrooms sanitized regularly.

  • Special Beers reflect Sketchbook’s commitment to community and social justice. Black is Beautiful is an Imperial Stout brewed as part of the Black is Beautiful Initiative aimed at raising awareness of the injustices that people of color, the Black community especially, face daily. People Power Beer: This is Sketchbook's third year participating in the People Power Beer Project. A portion of the proceeds from this Hoppy Ale will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to help fund their grassroots movement to change policies at both the local and national levels.
