Sketchbook Brewing expands to Skokie:
Second Production Facility & Tap Room in 2020

EVANSTON, IL (September 6, 2019) –The Mayor of the Village of Skokie announced yesterday that Sketchbook Brewing—a five-year old brewery headquartered in Evanston—is expanding to Skokie, where they are establishing an expanded production facility and tap room at 4901 Main St.  Sketchbook is now a tenant in this building, conveniently located just north of Skokie’s downtown and adjacent to a bike path. Read that announcement here.

"The Village of Skokie enthusiastically welcomes Sketchbook Brewing Company to the community," said Mayor George Van Dusen. "We have long been impressed by Sketchbook's success in our neighbor to the east, the City of Evanston, and we are grateful that the Sketchbook team decided to invest in Skokie for this exciting expansion of their high-quality, community-forward brewery operations. This announcement marks another significant advancement in redeveloping not only Downtown Skokie, but adjacent areas on Main Street and Skokie Boulevard. We are proud to welcome Sketchbook Brewing Company and its entrepreneurial owners!"

Here are the details:

  • Expansion Not Moving: The Skokie project represents an expansion, not a relocation. Indeed, Sketchbook’s Evanston Tap Room (located at 821 Chicago Ave.) is in the process of a dramatic expansion, fueled by a wildly successful Kickstarter campaignthat raised more than $30K! Both founders are Evanston residents and the organization is committed to their community. The existing brewery in Evanston will stay in use and be more creative than ever!

  • Increased Production: The new 14,000 sq ft. production facility represents a threefold increase in Sketchbook’s production capacity.

  • Skokie Tap Room: Sketchbook will open a Tap Room, on the North side of the building at 4901 Main St. Outdoor space and parking will be available. A very tentative open date is Summer 2020. Note that this brewery and tap room will be the first for Skokie!

  • Event Space: Plans call for a fabulous event space available for private events and live music.

Sketchbook’s Shawn Decker says:“Sketchbook’s five-year history has been a story of constant and organic growth—and the challenge to produce enough beer to keep our loyal community well-supplied.  We have been searching for a suitable building for a while and did not want to go very far from our existing location. We were very lucky to find a great building so close to us and to have the opportunity to partner with the wonderfully diverse and welcoming Village of Skokie.

Head Brewer Cesar Marron adds: “Sketchbook is thrilled to announce we are doubling down on our commitment to Evanston even as we expand our brewing to Skokie. This new production facility will keep our high-quality, locally and sustainably produced beer flowing for years to come.”
